SIGNED AGM MINUTES 2015

Matters arising - questions from the public from the 2014 AGM were read out. All issues raised have been resolved during the course of the year.

1. Remedial work on external cladding has been completed
2. Porch – there is no current plan to add a new porch
3. Film Club has run a successful first season and second season is planned starting October 15.
4. Lights have been repaired or replaced where necessary
5. No Trustees were able to fill the Parish council vacancy

The Treasurer (FH) gave her report.

Lettings income has grown slightly to around £15k but is impacted by 8pm curfew. The Hall is popular for children’s parties, training days for local businesses and a number of different community events. Grants were received to set up and run the Film Club.

The Treasurer reports that there is now £10000 in the reserve fund, but there may be some expenditure on maintenance throughout 2015.

The Chairman (CC) gave his report.

The Chairman reiterated that the Memorial Hall Trust is a not-for-profit organisation run for the benefit of the local community. The Trustees will continue to ensure sufficient money is raised to cover all running costs. The Hall is in increasing demand and everyone should be proud of this great facility.

The Chairman thanked all the Committee, particularly the vice-chair and the core team who organise events, for their efforts during the previous 12 months. The Chairman thanked everyone who had given up their valuable free time to help make the Hall such a success. The Chairman thanked the 7 members of the public who attended the AGM for their interest.

Trustees.

The number of Trustees had dropped from 12 to 10. Hannah Callier was invited to become a Trustee and accepted.

Robert Newman resigned as a trustee after many years of very valuable work particularly fund raising for the new Hall. He was thanked by the Chairman for his impressive contributions.

Questions from the public:

1. What is the long-term vision for the Hall? Will it need to be replaced in 100 years? If so, where will funds come from? Answer – current building should last for more than 100 years as it was built to a good standard. It may be against Charity commission rules to save charitable money to spend in 100 years’ time.
2. Could we consider providing a portable stage? Answer: good suggestion - the Trustees will look into the possibilities including suitable storage
3. The Film Club is a great success and all who were involved, particularly Jane Bell, should be thanked for their efforts. Iris Wait should also be thanked for Village teas and other activities. Answer: the Trustees would also like to thank Iris Wait and everyone who has made the Film Club such a success and hopes that Film Club will continue to be supported by the Village iv.
4. Will there be a village BBQ this year? Answer: Yes, Sunday 20 September. Also bonfire is planned for 8th November
